Speech-Language Pathologist in the school system working with preschool through fifth grade. Enrolled in the Sign Language in 30 Days Online class in August 2017.
"I had several children on my caseload last school year that really needed sign language in their daily routine and lexicon. I had my first completely deaf client and she greatly needed this. During our treatments, I often felt like I was doing an injustice to her because sign language was not my forte and she needed more than what I was giving her. I knew a few signs but nothing to the extent that would help my clients' communication skills really shine and enable them to express their wants and needs.
At first, honestly, I was hesitant over the price. I finally talked myself into and realized that I would have a lifetime membership and thinking about not only would I benefit myself but all the clients that needed it now, those I would encounter in the future, and the community members I could help.
I was also hesitant about just taking the step in general to register for the course. A lot of times, I put too much thought in things when I should just do something. So I went for it and boy, am I glad I did!
I love that it's self paced and online. It is also very user friendly and simple.
I also love the reviews and how you repeat the signs multiple times before transitioning to a new sign. That really helps me to learn them. I also loved the tips you gave to help us remember.
I'm currently doing collaboration with my preschool groups and each week I will be teaching 5 signs to them. It will consist of colors, objects, and letters. I can't wait to see how much easier it will be this time since I actually know what I am doing and will feel more confident teaching them and communicating with them."
